What do Women really want – are we trying to be Superwoman?

More and more women are talking about their difficulties finding part-time roles. Many employers are offering more of these roles but when it comes to the crunch a lot of candidates begging for part-time aren’t taking up the call.

When talking to candidates about these roles, the hours … generally people are excited. It ticks all their boxes until we start talking $$$ ….. this is when reality sets in.

What many women are finding difficult to come to terms with is they are used to earning good money, they’ve worked hard to get to that position, but once you pro-rata the salary it doesn’t feel enough. Earning $100K (5 days) drops to $60K (3 days). It’s a HUGE difference financially and a massive decision to make.

So how do we fix this problem? How can women feel more valued in the workplace when working part-time? Is it part-time roles women really want or is it actually more about flexibility and being able to work full-time hours that work for them including working from home?

Something is broken in the system, it’s still not working for women who are trying to be superwomen – Mum, Wife and Career Woman. I don’t know what the answer is but it seems that something still needs to change!
